MultiPlex Varicose Vein

MultiPlex Varicose Vein

Treatment of spider veins and dilated blood vessels with the simultaneous use of two lasers

The treatment consists of the combined application of two blood-vessel-specific lasers, specifically designed to treat blood vessels. This method is especially effective on dilated blood vessels situated on or beneath the surface, larger vascular birthmarks, vasodilatation in the skin of the body and spider veins in the lower limbs; without causing any injury to the skin surface.

Recommended for

Those who have developed superficial diluted vascular veins - spider veins - on their lower limbs (thigh, lower leg, ankle) as a result of individual physical characteristics, the strain of their life style (standing during working) or pregnancy.
Those who have a vascular birthmark on their skin, present either from birth or developing later.

Treatable skin surfaces

The treatment is always applied to the diluted blood vessels that caused the problem and on the surface where they occur. In one session we may be able to treat both full lower legs at once, though when spider veins occur over a large area, the two legs will be treated separately.

Preparation

The MultiPlex treatment requires no special preparation and can usually be carried out on the day of the examination. When the skin surface to be treated is heavily tanned it is not ideal for the treatment, therefore we recommend not sunbathing or visiting tanning salons for two weeks prior to the MultiPlex treatment.

The treatment

In the course of the MultiPlex treatment, we apply short light pulses to patches of the skin with the tip of a pencil-type handpiece. Then we treat the neighbouring skin area. The cold air cooling prevents burns to the skin. The treatment may cause slight discomfort, though it is generally painless.

Ability to work, nursing at home

In general we recommend 1-2 days’ rest after a non-ablative MultiPlex treatment. We recommend wearing a bandage or elastic stockings for 3 days. Redness and strip swelling (oedema) may occur on the treated area. Purple spots may develop on the area of the treated blood vessels (purpura), indicating the effectiveness of the treatment, and those disappear in 5-10 days. After treatment you will need to continue caring for your skin at home and we always recommend avoiding exposure to light for a month.

Number of treatments

Just one treatment may be effective but they may need to be repeated in order to achieve a perfect result. The MultiPlex treatment of the spider veins cannot be repeated sooner than 4-6 months after a previous treatment.

Scientific background of the treatment

We use the Cynergy MultiPlex laser produced by Cynosure Inc., US, laser manufacturing company, for the MultiPlex treatment. In the course of a MultiPlex treatment the equipment uses the pulsed dye laser in combination with the Neodymium YAG laser, which can achieve a deeper impact with less energy. The MultiPlex method is the global patent of the Cynosure company. Led by Dr Gábor Varju, Dr Derm Anti-Aging Dermatology, Aesthetic Laser and Plastic Surgery is the first institution to use the equipment and the related treatment methods in Hungary.

Cost of the treatment)

A MultiPlex treatment costs between HUF 36,000 and HUF 195,000, depending on the size of the skin surface to be treated.
