Rejuvenation of the skin surface with gentle laser resurfacing
The top layer of the skin, known as the epidermis, constantly renews itself, although after the age of 30 the process starts to slow down. Excessive sunbathing and various skin injuries leave longer traces and not only scars and patches appear, but the first wrinkles also become visible. In the course of MicroLaserPeel peeling, the Erbium-based tuneable resurfacing laser evaporates the top layers of the skin with the help of a scanner. The high-precision tool performs real peeling, unlike the consequential peeling caused by the fractionated CO2 lasers, which is uneven and is a secondary side effect of the damage to the upper skin layers caused by heat, which is why the depth of a CO2 laser intervention consequently cannot be planned as precisely as with the Erbium-based tuneable resurfacing laser; and is the reason we use the latter in our clinic.
Those have a pale and worn facial skin with larger or smaller wrinkles. Those on whose skin there are larger or scars and patches as a result of an earlier acne process or have enlarged pores in their skin. Those for whom a facelift performed by a plastic surgeon did not lead to a satisfactory result because the quality of their skin was not rejuvenated. Those who are willing to undergo a treatment that involves ablation to the skin, with a recovery period of a few days and achieve a spectacular result.
Treatable skin surfaces
The two sides of the face, the forehead alone, the whole face, the neck and the cleavage or the upper part of the back.
MicroLaserPeel exfoliation is arranged by appointment as it cannot be performed on the day of examination. Patients need to take acyclovir pills from one day prior to the treatment for 10 consecutive days (in order to avoid any effect causing a sudden flare up of herpes, which may occur after treatments involving a skin injury).
In the course of the MicroLaserPeel exfoliation, we use a high-speed and high-accuracy scanner to evaporate the upper layers of the skin. The depth of the intervention can be set accurately on the equipment, and thereby we can plan the recovery period. The smoke is extracted with a medical smoke extractor system equipped with HEPA filters thus preventing inhalation by the patient or the treating staff. The treatment may cause discomfort, and therefore we use a pain relief cream in advance. The MicroLaserPeel exfoliation is also available under light sedation and, in conjunction with major interventions, under deep sedation.
Ability to work, nursing at home
The injury to the skin appearing across the entire skin surface treated with MicroLaserPeel exfoliation can cause redness, light weeping or eyelid swelling (oedema) even if the eyelids are not treated separately, and therefore the patient is unable to work for a few days. The skin surface below those layers removed with the laser forms a dry, brownish sheet, which cracks and peels off in large pieces after a few days. The fresh, young skin layers become visible after the peeling. Following the treatment, the skin requires careful nursing at home, though makeup can be applied after a week. We recommend avoiding exposure to light for 3 months after the treatment.
Number of treatments
One treatment is effective but, with a smaller depth of intervention that involves faster recovery (2-3 days), the treatment can be repeated.
Scientific background of the treatment
The MicroLaserPeel exfoliation is based on the Erbium:YAG laser technology developed by Sciton Inc., a US laser manufacturing company. With a Tuneable Resurfacing Laser the recovery period can be planned and a safe intervention depth can be set up for each skin surface (to avoid scars developing from earlier CO2 exfoliation lasers on the neck and cleavage). Led by Dr Gábor Varju, Dr Derm Anti-Aging Dermatology, Aesthetic Laser and Plastic Surgery was the first institution to use the equipment and the related treatment method in Hungary.
Cost of the treatment
The price of MicroLaserPeel exfoliation varies between HUF 69,000 and HUF 240,000. Other treatment combinations are available at further cost. The above treatment price involves local anaesthesia but does not include light sedation or deep anaesthesia.
